NLAC GROUP SHOW!
Artworks from the New London Arts Council
Like many American cities, New London was a giant of the Industrial Age. Once the third largest whaling port in the world, today a very different industry dominates Connecticut’s historical Whaling City. More than any other industry, Arts & Culture has emerged as the main attraction and as a result has become the primary economic driver for New London. From museums, galleries and theatres, to stores that sell clothing, handmade jewelry, instruments, records and books, New London is inextricably linked to the arts.
The New London Arts Council (NLAC) is proud to carry on a very long tradition of art advocacy and honored to have been invited to participate in the Art At The Airport Program. The NLAC GROUP SHOW features various 2D artworks from active members of the New London Arts Council. Primarily focused on elevating the voices of local artists and connecting those artists to professional resources, the New London Arts Council is excited for the opportunity to share some of their own talents!
With our Art At The Airport exhibit, we hope to share just a sample of the diverse range of creativity New London always has on tap. While the city may owe its legacy to whaling, Arts & Culture has certainly become her identity. We see the NLAC GROUP SHOW as a chance to proudly represent the individual artists, makers, performers and creatives that make up the New London Arts Community.
